The KaiKai building team consists of 31 permanent employees. Only the senior carpenter is not a permanent resident of Port Nolloth.
The team is led by master builder, Piet Malgas. Piet is passionate about building. The quality of workmanship on the KaiKai show house is a visible testimony of the high standard Piet is known for. Piet is almost as passionate about music as he is about building. He is an accomplished musician with a CD to his credit.
Pat Hendricks is KaiKai’s full-time plumber and carpenter. Pat is originally from Cape Town. He is no musical slouch either and plays the drums.
Chief bricklayer (and guitarist) is Dirk Louw, an old Port Nolloth resident. Foreman and disk jockey, Frank Dirks is another key member of the KaiKai building team. Our storeman is Jason Ortman and our stonemason is Wesley Mdandalaza.
Other members of the building team (all allegedly with good singing voices) are: Bernald, Dirk Louw jr, Oom Stefan Bezuidenhout, Sizle Benghu, Robert Malan, Clayton Engelbrecht, Conant Bezuidenhout, Simon Saal, Eric de Wet, Elron Farmer, Maxwell Jaftha, Riaan van Wyk, Lwandile Gebuza, Ivan Philips, Abednego Dubazane, Archie Jansen, Leon Jaftha, Siyabonga Malima, Christopher Vries, Neville Daniels, Martin Engelbrecht, Elias Pielman and Thembikile Busakwe. Oom Ben Mtetandaba is our driver and Carmen van der Heever runs the office in Port Nolloth.
